" 30 years after..."
The group MAYBE was born back in the 70's, that is to say more than 30 years ago, with the initial knot: Serge (guitar), Bob(bass) & Patrick(drums). We are then in a period of total musical (and social) freedom where everyone can express it's own influences without bothering about any "labeling". After two or three months of rehearsing the group sets out for concert houses, even MJCs (Maison de la Jeunesse et de la Culture) where it receives a warm success with increasing audience. But, by the end of the 70's,( with the coming of the punk scene) the group splits up .Nonetheless the three pals keep in touch until they reform two years ago . The come back corresponds with the issue of Denis FOUQUET's book :"Bordeaux Rock(s)". This time the "new Maybe" enlists two more...The excellent Xavier ( Keyboards ) and the sublime Patricia ( Singer & Lyrics ).The five go back to work to give the group a second life. Every piece is meticulously re-arranged with the permanent (though innate) concern ,not to betray the freedom of spirit, without any concession, inherent to the 70's. Though the pieces roughly remain the same, the lyrics are being re-written with evident concern to stick to the sad reality (Sociological, environmental, etc...). In August 2007, Maybe records the album "L'Automate". The music they refuse to stick a reductive label on spreads out in a serie of sweet melodies and sharp riffs, with a violence ( never for free ) not the least self-censored. Cited as a " Leading Group of the 70's " in " Bordeaux Rock(s) ", Maybe was invited to play for a concert in the memory of the journalist Christian LEVRAUX on Thursday 21st June 2007... Moreover, we would like to thank RICARDO ( laguitare.com ), signaling in his columns the release of the new album ...
